Honoring Sailor's founding year, the 1911L (large) fountain pen combines an effortless writing experience with a classic design of rounded shapes. Sailor's iconic fountain pen has a glossy black resin barrel and cap, complemented by gold-colored metal details. The pen is equipped with Sailor's legendary 21k gold nib with Naginata Emperor nib.
The Sailor 1911L Naginata Emperor fountain pen has a unique emperor, or rolled tab, on top of the nib. This tab provides an extra ink reservoir, almost like an extra supply to the nib, making the ink flow wetter with every stroke. This nib was developed in the early 1990s by Nobuyoshi Nagahara, a master pencil sharpener at Sailor for more than 65 years, after a customer requested a nib that would not dry out on even the most absorbent Japanese paper. As with the other Naginata nibs, the name is inspired by the shape of the nib, which resembles a traditional long sword.
The Naginata Emperor fountain pen is available in three different nibs: Medium Fine, Medium and Broad.
The special engraved metal center band filled with resin according to the special Cloisonné technique indicates the special nib.
The cap can be opened/closed and can be pressed onto the back of the nib while writing. The Sailor 1911L comes with a Sailor converter and two Sailor black ink cartridges.
