Nakaya Writer Portable Heki-tamenuri fountain pen
The Nakaya Writer Heki-tamenuri fountain pen is made of ebonite with a beautiful Wajami urishi lacquer. Ebonite is a light material, so the pen can be made a little longer and thicker without it becoming too heavy. "Heki" is a classic Japanese color that is midway between blue and green. Several transparent urushi layers are applied over this base color, which are each time dried and then polished. The more coats that are applied, the darker the final color of the pen will be. With this pen, this results in a beautiful caramel-brown lacquered pen, in which the underlying, in this case, green layers become visible in the sharper transitions. The name refers to this; "Tame" means "pond" and refers to the transparency of the top coat and "nuri" means "layer" which refers to the painting process.
The design of the pen is simple and sober, no gold-plated rings but only a functional sturdy clip. The pen has an excellent size and lies perfectly in the hand for writing without a cap on the back.It is not recommended to place the cap on the back of the holder because of damage to the beautiful urushi lacquer.).
The nibs are 14 karat gold and can be ordered in different writing widths. An additional option is an extra flexible nib, this is obtained by slightly cutting the pen blade on both sides. This creates a line variation even at a small pressure difference.
Just like the pen, the packaging is simple but neat and stylish. Each pen is packed in a Paulownia wooden gift box, the pen itself comes in a small "kimono fabric" case. The fountain pen comes with a box of Platinum cartridges and a converter.r.
