Throughout history, great artists have expressed the human experience through a universal language of form and beauty. The Montblanc Masters of Art Collection honors their timeless contributions to the pursuit of artistic perfection—a journey Montblanc both celebrates and joins.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir stands as one of the most prominent pioneers of modernism, whose sun-drenched paintings helped define the Impressionist movement. In tribute to this iconic figure of French art—and his early years as a porcelain painter—Montblanc presents the Masters of Art Homage to Pierre-Auguste Renoir Limited Edition 888.

Renoir’s virtuosity in applying paint found its roots in his apprenticeship at the age of 13 at the Parisian porcelain factory of the Lévy brothers. There, he mastered the art of painting delicate floral motifs in soft blues on pure white porcelain—each brushstroke capturing nature’s beauty. One of the few surviving examples of Renoir’s porcelain work inspired the design of this Limited Edition.

The cap and barrel are coated in a special lacquer that evokes the look of fine white porcelain. Beneath the translucent lacquer lies a finely engraved Louis XVI pattern, reminiscent of decorative metalwork from the same era. The eye is drawn to the gold-framed lacquer motif on the cap, a reproduction of a floral design painted by Renoir himself.

The top of the cap features a mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem surrounded by varying shades of blue, another nod to Renoir’s porcelain artistry. The platinum-coated ring at the top of the cap is engraved with “1854”—the year Renoir began his porcelain apprenticeship.

One of the most striking elements is the gold-coated clip shaped like two paintbrushes—tools Renoir used to create both intricate detail and expansive brushstrokes in his masterpieces. A wide solid Au 750 gold ring at the top of the cap completes the design.

The handcrafted Au 750 solid gold nib, partly covered in rhodium, features a delicately engraved folding fan with two tassels—paying homage to the symbolic fan, a frequent motif in Renoir’s works, especially his perceptive portraits of women.

As a final tribute to Renoir’s talents as a draftsman, the cone—crafted from solid Au 750 gold and partially platinum-coated—features a soft Ag 925 sterling silver stylus tip, allowing you to create your own silverpoint sketches.
