For the first time, Caran d'Ache presents the Ecridor ballpoint pen in a completely matte look. The Ecridor Racing is coated entirely in matte black and features a special guilloché inspired by racing motifs, such as race tires and a radiator grille. Fine, hand-applied red lacquer stripes represent the brake lights.
The Ecridor models are characterized by being fractionally shorter than is usual for comparable ballpoint pens; in addition, this pen is distinguished by its smooth and comfortable push mechanism (most other ballpoint pens in this price range have a twist mechanism).
One of the most important pens in the history of Caran d'Ache is the Ecridor model. The name 'Ecridor' comes from the pencil factory (founded in 1915) that Arnold Schweitzer, the founder of Caran d'Ache, bought in 1924, located in the heart of Geneva. In 1929, Carl Schmid invented one of the first mechanical pencils, the 'Fixpencil', a name that was trademarked by Caran d'Ache. A few years later, the first hexagonal Ecridor mechanical pencils made their debut. In 1953, the logical next step was a matching ballpoint pen. Over the decades, this Ecridor model has proven itself many times over. This is thanks to the well-designed hexagonal shape, which makes the pens fit perfectly in the hand, and the Caran d'Ache ballpoint refill (Goliath), a refill that is among the best in the world, guaranteeing at least 600 flawlessly written A4 pages.
