Sailor 1911 GT (Large) Special Nib - Naginata Togi Emperor 21K fountain pen
Item no: 10-7321-328
Sailor is globally known for its high-quality nibs. Until a few years ago, many of these special nibs were reasonably available. However, in recent years, these sought-after nibs have been hardly available for order. With the introduction of a special set, exclusive to a limited number of writing instrument specialists, including P.W. Akkerman in The Hague, the limited availability of these sought-after nibs comes to an end. With the acquisition of this set, we have been given the opportunity to reorder each time a fountain pen from this series is sold. Worldwide, there will be 50 sets available, 25 sets for Japan and only 25 sets for the market outside Japan.
The set will consist of 12 fountain pens, all based on the well-known Sailor 1911 (the large) model. The set includes three Naginata Togi fountain pens (Gold Trim) in MF, M, B and three Naginata Togi fountain pens (Silver Trim) in MF, M, B. In addition to these nibs, a Naginata Emperor MF, M, B, Naginata Concord, Cross Point, Cross Concord, Cross Music, and Naginata Fude de Mannen are also available.
The holder and cap of this classically designed Sailor 1911 are made of acrylic. The pen can be filled with cartridges or with the included converter. The cap ring differs from that of the regular collection. This metal cap ring is adorned with the text "Special Nib" and finished with a special cloisonné technique.
The 21-carat gold nib is equipped with a somewhat understated engraving, unique to this collection. It is important to note that these nibs are not interchangeable with nibs from the "regular" 1911 collection. These nibs are therefore only available in the models that Sailor currently offers.
This fountain pen is equipped with a 21-carat gold "Naginata Emperor" nib, which is a combination of two Sailor nibs; the Sailor Naginata Togi and the Sailor Emperor. The first type provides variable line thickness, which depends on the angle of the pen relative to the paper - the lower the angle, the broader the line. The narrow gold band mounted on top of the nib comes from the Emperor models and acts as a second ink guide. Moreover, the curl resting on the nib houses an ink reserve that also ensures a constant ink supply to the nib. The Naginata Emperor nib is available in Medium-Fine, Medium, and Broad.
