Few athletes are celebrated and honored as three-time world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, whose legendary moments in sports and civil rights activism made him one of the most influential athletes and humanists of the 20th century. As an athlete, Ali shook the world with his strength, skill and personality, becoming world heavyweight champion at the age of 22. His greatest triumph, however, came from his humanitarian efforts.
Made of precious black resin, the cap resembles a punching bag, while the barrel resembles boxing tape that athletes use to wrap their hands. The cap features several design elements, such as a famous quote from Ali and a butterfly inspired by his signature fighting style: "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."
The pointed cone adopts that concept and is engraved with four lines representing the ropes of a boxing ring. The inscriptions on the cone refer to Ali's victory at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and to his first world heavyweight championship won in Miami in 1964. The details of his victory, namely that he won by technical knockout in the seventh round, are on the cap ring. To celebrate its first title, the Montblanc emblem in white resin is decorated with a "1". To underline this success, the clip is shaped like a boxing championship belt and features his name.
