The master craftsmen of Kanazawa produce some of the world's most beautiful gold leaf, in a range of shimmering colors. According to an ancient technique - Momo Chirashi - platinum leaf gold is taken, torn, and folded into smaller, unique shapes. These are then carefully applied to the pen holder, resulting in a subtly textured surface that catches and reflects light with a depth that is normally unmatched by gold leaf.
The design on the holder of each pen is unique thanks to the manual application of the designs. Each pen is subtly different. Under the lavish design lies the same great #3776 Century design that we all know and appreciate. The Platinum #3776 Century series features the airtight 'Slip and Seal' cap. The innovative new screw cap system uses an internal plastic seal with a strong spring. The main advantage of this system is the improved shelf life: the ink does not dry out, even after a year.
An additional advantage is the improved resistance to leaks caused by pressure changes. An additional advantage of the Slip and Seal cap is that Platinum approves the use of their pigment inks in these pens. Platinum pigment inks are water-resistant and lightfast, but are risky to use in regular pens unless you clean the pen after each use. Platinum guarantees that Platinum Slip and Seal pens are safe to use with Platinum Carbon and pigment inks as daily ink.
The 14-carat gold nib of the #3776 is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship - made in-house at Platinum and hand-tested in the factory. This nib and feed are the same as those of the legendary Nakaya Urushi pens. Delivered with a converter for use with bottled ink. Platinum recommends Platinum fountain pen ink, but of course any quality bottled ink can be used. Suitable for Platinum ink cartridges. Weight: 18.8 g, 140 mm long closed, 120 mm open, 155 mm placed.
