Robert Louis Stevenson, born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850, had two great desires: for freedom and for distraction by immersing himself in another world. He composed essays and travelogues, but also his legendary adventure stories, populated by striking characters whose names send a shiver down the spines of readers all over the world: Long John Silver, Captain Flint, Jekyll and Hyde. The Montblanc Writers Edition Homage to Robert Louis Stevenson is dedicated to this imaginative storyteller.

The novel "Treasure Island" inspired many design details of the edition. The overall shape of the writing instrument and the rings on the cone together create the impression of a historical, extendable telescope.

This edition tells the story of Treasure Island and showcases the famous Hispaniola on the barrel, inlaid with precious black lacquer. The Hispaniola embarks on a journey and waves with a British ensign that is held behind a small window. Following the storyline of mutiny by pirates, the flag can be turned with a small button to reveal a pirate flag.

Vertical lines reminiscent of the planks of the schooner "Hispaniola" and a traditional sea chest adorn the distinctive gold-coated cap. Behind the characteristic gold-plated clip, the lines converge into a compass rose, while the clip mimics the shape of a securing pin to which the lines of a ship's rigging would be attached. The top of the cap is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl. The cap ring is decorated with an engraving of Stevenson's signature.

As a reference to Robert Louis Stevenson's passion for sailing and his resettlement in the South Pacific, the handmade solid Au 750 gold nib is engraved with clouds, seagulls, and the title given to the great writer and world traveler by the Samoans: "Tusitala".

With characteristic gold and/or characteristic gold plating, Montblanc describes the bright shade of yellow gold that has become a valued tone for the writing instruments of the House.
