22. Hopjes brown - Akkerman fountain pen ink

The faceted ink bottle is characterised by the long neck containing a glass marble. Akkerman fountain pen ink is suitable for any type of fountain pen and available in 31 sparkling colours. The ink colours have been given names with a Hague twist

What makes this bottle so unique? By tilting the closed ink bottle, the neck fills with ink. Set upright again, the marble falls back and prevents the ink from flowing back. This creates a reservoir of ink above the marble, from which the fountain pen can be filled easily, even when the bottle is almost empty.

As residents of The Hague, we are proud of the Hague Hopje! A delicious sweet with lovely vintage packaging. People all over the world know this Hopje, but who actually invented this treat? In 1794, Nieuwerkerk officially begins producing the sweets, and in 1880 the chocolates are given the name Hague Hopjes. The Hague chocolates are a surprise in every package from P.W. Akkerman.
