16. Oranje boven - Akkerman fountain pen ink

€14,01 EUR

The faceted ink bottle is distinguished by its long neck containing a glass marble. Akkerman fountain pen ink is suitable for any type of fountain pen and available in 31 sparkling colours. The ink colours have been given The Hague-inspired names

What makes this bottle so unique? By tilting the sealed ink bottle, the neck fills with ink. When set upright again, the marble falls back and prevents the ink from flowing back. This creates a reservoir of ink above the marble from which the fountain pen can easily be filled, even when the bottle is almost empty.

#16. Orange above all

The song Orange above all probably originated in the late 19th century, when Queen Emma became regent of the Netherlands (1890-1898). The song remained in use after that. Especially during the Second World War, the song was sung frequently as a sign of resistance. Later, the song was often sung on Queen's Day and Prince's Day, during visits by the queen in the country, or at sports events. After the change of throne in 2013, for the first time in more than 120 years, a king was again on the throne in the Netherlands. The lyrics of the song were no longer appropriate for this, which caused the song's use to decline. Orange approaches life cheerfully and radiantly; it is the colour of creative life force and positive social contact. Warm, spontaneous, optimistic and creative!
