Nakaya Dorsal Fin ver. 2 Heki-tamenuri fountain pen
€1.735,54 EUR
The Nakaya Dorsal Fin ver.2 fountain pen in Heki-tamenuri, is made of ebonite with a beautiful Wajami urishi lacquer. "Heki" is a classic Japanese color that is midway between blue and green. By letting the urushi accumulate at both ends, the image of a sword is created.
Several transparent urushi layers are applied over the base color, which are each time dried and then polished. The more coats applied, the darker the final pen color will be. With this pen this results in a beautiful dark lacquered pen, whereby the underlying, in this case, green layers become visible in the sharper transitions. The name refers to this; "Tame" means "pond" which refers to the transparency of the top coat and "nuri" means "layer" and refers to the painting process.
The design of the pen is simple and sober, no gold-plated rings and no clip. The fountain pen is slightly longer than usual and intended to be used without a cap on the back. it is also not recommended to place the cap on the back of the container because of damage to the beautiful urushi paint.).
The nibs are 14 karat gold and can be ordered in different writing widths.
Japanese fountain pens almost always write seriously thinner than the European brands. As an indication, a Japanese medium nib corresponds to a fine European one.
Each pen is packed in a Paulownia wooden gift box, the pen itself comes in a small "kimono fabric" case. The fountain pen comes with a box of Platinum cartridges and a converter.r.
