This beautiful new ink will be available from the end of March - the beginning of April 2024!

For the 5th anniversary of Sailor Manyo inks, Sailor has developed a new line: Manyo Ink in Love. The "Manyoshu" - the oldest collection of Japanese poems in Japanese history - contains many poems about love. Each poem selected by Sailor for this collection contains a piece of nature, which is reflected in the color of the ink.

The Yu ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

“When night falls, I stare at the clouds, lost in contemplation. I think of my beloved, who is like the unreachable sky, far beyond my reach.”

The Tsuyu ink of the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

“Please don't ask me 'who's there' as I wait for you, drenched in the September dew.”"

The Ishi ink from the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

“Even the little stones in the river, if you have stepped on them, let me pick them up thinking of them as precious gems.”

The Asagiri ink from the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

“Because we only met vaguely, like the morning mist, I continue to love you as if my life is about to end.”

The Himeyuri ink from the Manyo in Love collection is based on the following poem:

“As the star lily blooms in the thickets of a summer field, unknown to all, my love remains a painful and poignant secret.”

Sailor's Manyo ink collection is named after 'Manyosyu', the 'Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves', the oldest and most revered anthology of poetry in Japan. It contains more than 4,000 poems written over a period of 400 years by people from all walks of life, from emperors to peasants. Flowers are particularly relevant in Japanese culture and 1,500 of the poems relate to them. Sailor therefore decided to name the Manyo inks after flowers mentioned in this epic, centuries-long collection of poems.

Each square glass bottle contains 50ml of high quality dye-based ink, suitable for use in all fountain pens.

Sailor Pens was founded in Japan in 1911, as the first manufacturer of fountain pens in its own country. They have subsequently built a first-class reputation for producing the highest quality nibs, with all parts made in their own factory in Hiroshima. Their flagship collections include the classic 1911 and the boldly designed Professional Gear, all available with a 14k or 21k gold nib. The name Sailor comes from Kyugoro Sakata's British sailor friend who introduced him to fountain pens.
